The Community WalkOur "all are welcome" policy toward non-profit fundraising through the Community Walk and other events at the Syracuse Festival of Races was established in 2000 with two goals in mind. The first is provide the opportunity for any interested non-profit organization to benefit from the Syracuse Festival of Races. The second is to enable Festival participants themselves to choose what non-profit organizations will benefit from our event each year. Participating non-profits raise funds and visibility through their pledge-centered participation in the event. Since 2000, scores of participating groups have reaped the benefits of participation, raising well over $100,000 for their programs and services. GROUP REGISTRATION: There is no charge to register your organization for the Community Walk. To do so, e-mail Dave Oja at daveoja@festivalofraces.com and provide the following information:
We'll be happy add you to our list of participating non-profits for the current year and provide you a couple of pledge envelopes and a supply of individual entry/pledge forms. INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION: Each individual planning to participate in the Community Walk should complete an
individual entry form
and submit it with a check for the appropriate entry fee. Prior to the morning
of the event, the entry fee for the Walk is $5.00 for those 17 years of age or
younger, and $10.00 for those 18 years of age or older. On race morning, Sunday,
October 4, 2009, the entry fee is $15.00 per person regardless of age. All
registered entrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, bib number, and
post-race refreshments. SUBMISSION OF PLEDGE ENVELOPES: In order to facilitate the collection, submission, accounting, reporting, and disbursing of pledge monies, it's helpful to have all pledge monies submitted in the official pledge envelopes by race day or soon thereafter. Pledge envelopes can be dropped off at the offices of Dermody, Burke & Brown (443 N. Franklin Street in Syracuse) during normal business hours. Volunteers from DB&B will also be available to receive pledge envelopes at the pre-race packet pickup on Saturday, October 3rd, from 10:00 am until 2:00 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods in Shoppingtown Mall, and at the registration tent at Manley Field House on race day, October 4th. DON'T FORGET THE TWO-STEP PROCESS:
