USA Masters 5 km Championships: The 2011 USA Masters 5 km Championships for men and women will be run concurrently with our Men's 5K (8:50 a.m.) start and Women's 5K (9:50 a.m.) start.
Fitness Forum/SOS Joint Replacement Run & Walk: Recipients of knee and/or hip replacements will be competing for awards in the Fitness Forum/Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Joint Replacement Run & Walk, which will be run concurrently with our Men's 5K (8:50 a.m.) and Women's 5K (9:50 a.m.). To register for the Joint Replacement Run awards, participants with knee or hip replacements simply need to enter either the Men's 5K or Women's 5K and indicate on their entry forms which replacement category applies to them. Awards will be presented to the top finishers based on the fastest times for men and women in both the knee and hip replacement categories.
Recipients
of knee and/or hip replacements are also encouraged to participate in our
non-competitive events: the MVP Health Care 3K Fun & Fitness Run and the
Tops Friendly Markets Community Walk. Please check with your physician
and heed your physician's advice regarding your readiness to participate.
Tops Friendly Markets Community Walk Pledge Drop-Off:
Individuals and groups can drop off their pledge envelopes
during regular business hours at the offices of Dermody, Burke, & Brown, 443 N. Franklin Street, Syracuse. Volunteers from DB&B will also be present at Packet Pickup (Saturday,
October 1st) and on race morning.

213 Scott Avenue between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September
28th. Race Headquarters Hotel: We're
delighted to offer visiting athletes, their friends, and their family members
extraordinary group rates at the Embassy Suites, Syracuse on Festival of Races
Weekend. The Embassy Suites is located at 6646 Old Collamer Road South, just off
NYS Thruway (I-90) Exit 35. The same outstanding rates
that we were able to offer last year still apply to both queen (4-person) and king (6-person) suites: $129 per night
(plus tax) for a one-night stay; $109 per night (plus tax) for a two-night
stay; and $99 per night (plus tax) for a three-night stay. All room rates include a
complimentary full cooked-to-order breakfast each morning, and a
complimentary managers reception each evening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
Guests at the Embassy Suites on SFoR Weekend will also have convenient
access to the Chargers Hospitality Suite (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), the
Athletes Technical Meeting (8:00 p.m. Saturday), and the post-race National
Championship Awards Presentation & Brunch (Sunday). Additional amenities
at the Embassy Suites include: state-of-the-art business center; fitness
center; indoor pool and whirlpool; complimentary wireless internet; and
large indoor atrium.
To reserve suites at the special Syracuse Festival of Races group rates,
please make your reservations early.
The Embassy Suites has a small number of suites available for Saturday night, October 1st, and welcomes calls from runners registered for the Syracuse Festival of Races. They ask that you call the hotel's sales office directly and speak with either Christie (315-703-9108) or Beth (315-703-9100). Don't feel you need to wait until Monday; you may find someone there this weekend!
Anyone who HAS a reservation at the Embassy Suites but will be unable to use it (due to last-minute injury or change in plans) PLEASE don't cancel it without first checking with Dave Oja (315-446-6285). We have a waiting list of runners still hoping to stay at the Embassy Suites, and we'd be happy to switch over any unneeded reservations to someone on the waiting list. Any runners who would like to be added to our waiting list for possible Embassy Suites openings on Festival weekend, please contact Dave a.s.a.p.!
Packet Pickup & Late Registration at Dick's in Shoppingtown: Pre-registered runners can pick up their bib numbers and T-shirts on Saturday, October 1st, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods in Shoppingtown Mall. Packets not picked up on Saturday may be picked up at the race site beginning at 7:30 a.m. on race morning. For early pick-up and the best selection of shirt sizes, come on Saturday!
There is an 800-runner cap on both the Men's 5K
and Women's 5K. If space remains in the field, runners who have not yet registered can enter at the Saturday pickup as well as on the morning of the race. In order to encourage as many participants as possible to register before race weekend,
ALL ENTRY FEES WILL BE HIGHER ON
RACE DAY.
5K entry is $30 on race day, and the entry fee for both the Fun & Fitness
Run and the Community Walk is $15.00 on race morning, regardless of your age.

Visiting Athlete Hospitality: The Syracuse Chargers Track Club
will be hosting a hospitality room for out-of-town USATF Masters Championship entrants staying at the Embassy Suites. The hospitality room will be open from Friday afternoon through Sunday at noon, and it will be your most convenient source of complimentary beverages, snacks, directions, general information, course tour sign-up, and transportation to and from the race site.For the convenience of all runners staying at the Embassy Suites, packets for USA Masters 5 km Championship entrants (only) will be available for pickup in the Chargers Hospitality Suite on Saturday, October 1st, between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The place to be if you're a spectator is on one side or the other of E. Colvin Street between Skytop Road and Buckingham Avenue. It's going to be noisy, it's going to be exciting. It's the place to see your friends and family in the thick of the action when the starting gun sounds at 8:50 a.m., 9:50 a.m., and 10:45 a.m. And it's the place where all the runners and walkers most need a little encouragement as they approach the final 400 meters. Admission to the 2011 USA Masters 5 km Championship Awards Presentation is free for all Syracuse Festival of Races participants and their guests.
In conjunction with the Awards Presentation and also in the
Onondaga Room, a hot and cold buffet brunch will be available beginning at noon and extending through the
Awards Presentation. Anyone wishing to enjoy a buffet brunch along
with the Awards Presentation may purchase Brunch tickets in advance in the
Championship hospitality rooms at our two race headquarters
hotel. Brunch will cost $10.00 for anyone entered in the 2011 USA Masters 5 km Championships,
and $15 for their guests.
